volterra + detroit
This is a sample of some of the work I produced while studying abroad in Volterra, Italy. During my time there, I studied the medieval towers of the Etruscan region, and designed an observation tower for the city of Volterra so visitors could gaze into the picturesque landscape surrounding the city. When I returned to Detroit I expanded on the design by developing a center for foreign studies in the tower where students abroad could live and study. The tower displays the compromise between modern and medieval architecture within the city, it included a living wall, as well as a green roof.
While in Europe I traveled to fourteen cities in seven different countries, and studied architecture, Italian, and history, and expressed myself in mediums such as alabaster sculpture, sketches, and paint. |
